Industry 4.0 describes, among other things, the intelligent interaction of people and technology. Intelligent workpieces, means of production and flexible value-added steps are integrated into production. This achieves distributed production with maximum flexibility at a minimum price. In an Industry 4.0 plant, the systems inform people about production and processes and provide support for control and monitoring. A smart factory includes communication between the product and the manufacturing plant. The product brings its manufacturing information with it in machine-readable form, e.g. on an RFID chip. This data is used to control the product's path through the production facility and the individual production steps.
